YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Wildfire Fuel: Issue #1, October 2022

Do you feel alone or isolated in the work that God has called you to do? Do you have moments when you don’t think you can go on? Do you ever feel weak, afraid, or discouraged?

If so, you share something in common with many of the heroes of faith we read about in the scriptures: You need a word from God. You need a specific word from the Lord – to carry in your heart for every day that is called ‘today.’

The word that Moses needed to lead the people of God into freedom and true worship.

The same word that Joshua needed to lead the people of God to inherit the promised land.

The same word that Elijah needed when he was running from Ahab and Jezebel and a nation of idol worshippers.

The same word that the disciples of Jesus needed as they began the work of ‘making disciples’…

You are not alone.

Moses needed this: “And the LORD answered, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” “If Your Presence does not go with us,” Moses replied, “do not lead us up from here.” Exodus 33:14-15

Joshua needed this: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”” Joshua 1:9

Elijah Needed This: “ Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him.” 1 Kings 19:18 NIV (I love that He needed to hear God’s voice, but needed God to reassure him that there were other people, 7000 even, that were with him in their faithfulness to God and defiance of the King and culture)

The Disciples needed this directly from the mouth of Jesus: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 29:20b

As people who follow Jesus, we need this reminder. We often feel weak, afraid, and discouraged. As I was sitting in a new coffee shop and praying for a word from the Lord, a couple came and began to share with me how they have been living on mission to share the gospel for years – outside of any formal religious organization. They opened up that they had a particularly difficult day, and I offered to pray over them and bless them – they held out their hands in a busy coffee shop and received the encouraging word of the LORD: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Dear friends. Holy saints. Brave Members of the Wildfire Network Family.

The Lord is with you--wherever you go. Thousands of others call upon the name of the Lord Jesus with sincere hearts. Let us make renewed and intentional efforts to strengthen our connection to each other and our connection to Jesus in the days, weeks, and years to come.

Sincerely,
Taylor Rogers
